Varsity Team Entry and Roster Form 2012
(One Team Per Form)

Classes

VFW Baseball Varsity AA Majors, AA Minors, Varsity A, and Varsity B classes will be determined by using the South Dakota High School Athletic Associations enrollment figures as a guide. To have an AA Minor team, you must also have an AA Major team first. To determine Class A and B teams an ADM of 115 and below will be Class B. Two players may be registered on a team from a higher or same class school without changing the base school ADM. More than two players from a school or combination of schools will require the addition of ADM to the base school. The Advisory Board will determine extenuating circumstances such as a player living with non-custodial parents/grandparents in the summer and not enforcing the added ADM rule. (Read Rule #3, General Rules).

Eligibility

Competition is open to boys or girls who are 13, 14, 15, and 16 years of age. A boy or girl who has reached his or her 17th birthday before May 1st of the current year is ineligible for the VFW Varsity baseball program. A boy or girl who is under 13 years of age may play if permission is secured from the regional commissioner prior to the time of play. His or her name must be on the state roster. Team must be sanction according SD VFW Baseball Rules. (Eligibility Rule #5)

Team Entry Form, Entry Fee, and Team Roster Form

For a Varsity B, A and AA Minor or Major baseball team to be eligible for any tournament play they must submit a $125.00 Entry Fee, plus an Entry Form to VFW Department Headquarters, 3601 South Minnesota Ave., Sioux Falls, SD 57105 postmarked on or before May 1st. Checks to be payable to: State of South Dakota VFW. Team roster forms must include the name of the player, complete address of the player, name of school attended the last school year, date of birth, and Age on May1st. If this information is incomplete, it can affect the eligibility of the player. Team rosters are due June 10th and late rosters will have a $50 late fee bringing the total entry fee to $175.00. You may list up to 25 players per team. Team insurance is mandatory and a copy is required to be file with VFW Headquarters along with your team entry form and roster.

Tournaments

All league and regional tournaments shall be either single or double elimination with the decision to be made by the coaches and regional commissioner involved. The A Varsity and B Varsity State Tournaments shall be single elimination. The AA Varsity Majors and Minors State Tournament format maybe pool play or single elimination to be determined by the regional commissioners. All registered teams must play in a qualifying regional tournament, except when pool play or a league format is being used. A state tournament consists of two teams from each region, plus a host team from the host region for Class A Varsity and Class B Varsity State Tournaments. The Class AA Varsity State Tournaments consists of two classes Majors and Minors teams and will play a format determine by VFW baseball officials.

Team Entry Fee: $125.00 The Team Entry form must be received by May 1st. The Roster portion of the form does not need to be filled out until June 10. After June 10th, you may still update your roster form but you will be charged a $50 fee. When you submit this application, you will be told how you can return and update your roster online. If you plan on mailing in the Fee, make checks payable to: State of South Dakota VFW. Then mail to: State of South dakota VFW, 3601 S Minnesota Ave., Sioux Falls SD 57105

$125.00 Entry Fee, Team Entry Form and copy of Team Insurance should be postmarked on or before May 1st and sent to VFW State Headquarters. If Entry Fee and other information are postmarked after May 1st, the team will not be eligible for tournament play during the current year. Team rosters are due June 10th and late rosters will have a $50 late fee bringing the total entry fee to $175.00. We recommend you make copies for your own records. It is required that you have your team roster and copies of the date of birth records for each player who will participate in the state tournament to be present at these games.
